HAMMONTON, N.J. — Officials have scheduled a hearing Tuesday to discuss the toll for an upgraded section of the Atlantic City Expressway.

The South Jersey Transportation Authority wants to charge $3 at Interchange 17, which will link the expressway with Route 50.

When the interchange opens, no cash toll payments will be taken. All tolls will be collected through E-ZPass.

The agency eventually plans to have cashless tolls at all interchanges to ease traffic congestion.

Officials are trying to figure out the best way to charge motorists who don’t have E-ZPass.
