The veteran skydiver who died during a weekend jump that went awry in New Jersey was identified Monday as 54-year-old resident Paul Haaf Jr. of Monroe.
Haaf died after jumping around 5:06 p.m. Sunday in Williamstown from a Skydive Cross Keys plane, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office said.
He deployed his parachute, according to a Skydive Cross Keys rep. But the parachute wasn’t with him when his body was discovered about 20 minutes later in a roadway, according to news station KYW-TV.
Emergency responders pronounced the skydiver dead at the scene, officials said. An autopsy revealed he suffered “multiple injuries” and concluded his death was accidental.
Haaf’s Facebook page is covered with photos of him skydiving.
