An 8-year-old girl was killed Wednesday when she was struck by an SUV just steps from her home in Brooklyn, authorities said.
Jadann Williams was playing on East 22nd Street near Ditmas Avenue when she stepped into the street and was hit by a Toyota SUV at about 5:10 p.m., cops said.
Jadann Williams was tragically killed when an SUV struck her.“People were trying to help the girl but it was so bad,” said a witness, Olmedo de la Nuez. “They were crying and the little girl wasn’t moving.”
Paramedics rushed Jadann to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, but she could not be saved.
The 35-year-old driver remained at the scene and wept in his vehicle as police were interviewing him.
During questioning, the girl’s brother came over and attacked the driver, who by then had emerged from his vehicle.
The brother was tackled by police and taken into custody. He was charged with assault.
