A grand jury has decided four NYPD officers shouldn’t be charged with any crimes in a deadly shooting amid a chaotic scene following a Harlem block party, sources close to the investigation said yesterday.
The grand jury had declined to indict any of the officers who fired a total of 46 bullets in the Aug. 8 shootout, the sources said.
The Manhattan DA’s Office didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Officers Douglas Brightman, Michael Tedeschi, Thomas Cozart and Sgt. Paul Kerrigan have been on desk duty during the investigation.
The violence started with a fight between two men, escalated into gunfire as they grappled over a weapon and sparked a barrage of police bullets, police said. Luis Soto, 21, was killed by cops, prosecutors said.
