NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A judge yesterday ordered a competency hearing for an unemployed doctor charged in the April slaying of Vajinder Toor, a Yale University physician with whom the doctor once worked.

Defendant Lishan Wang, who had been fired from Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, opposed the evaluation and also indicated that he wished to act as his own attorney.
