Most bogus immigration lawyers take their victims’ money and do nothing. Wilmer Rivera Melendez tried to get his dozens of “clients” deported, Manhattan prosecutors charged yesterday.

Melendez, 61 and a convicted bigamist, promised green cards — but had his victims fill out applications for asylum that only alerted the feds to their illegal status and put them on the road to deportation, officials said.

His victims paid him thousands in “legal fees” after meeting in his rental car, which he’d drive to New York from his home in Georgia, said DA Robert Morgenthau.

“The immigration service had been totally unaware of these people being in New York,” he said. “Now they’re all going to be deported, and there’s little we can do to help them.”
