A possible transformer fire on the roof of a Manhattan high-rise yesterday sent brief ripples of fear up and down a city already a bit unnerved by an unconfirmed terror threat.

Fire officials said the fire, at 11 Madison Ave., not far from Madison Avenue Park, created a lot of smoke but was quickly extinguished.

No injuries were reported.
