A small plane crashed into a wooded area in East Farmingdale on Long Island on Saturday afternoon, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Only the pilot, whose condition was unclear as of press time Saturday, was on board.

The red-and-white Mooney M20P went down as it attempted to land at Republic Airport around 4 p.m., the agency said.

It’s at least the second plane crash reported Saturday. Another aircraft went down in Louisiana just before 10 a.m., killing five.

The FAA said it is working with the National Transportation Safety Board to determine the cause of the Long Island crash.
