A small passenger plane whose pilot had reported that there was smoke in the cockpit landed safely at Newark Airport late yesterday morning.

United Express Flight 4890 out of Pittsburgh stopped on the runway at 11:15 a.m., and its 27 passengers were evacuated as a precaution, according to the Port Authority.

No injuries were reported, the PA added.
