A snow alert is in effect for Monday, as a wintry mix of snow and rain is expected to pelt the Big Apple to kick off the workweek, the city Department of Sanitation announced.

The alert goes into effect at 8 a.m.

The National Weather Service reported the five boroughs could see up to an inch of snow from Monday morning into Tuesday, with up to 2 inches possible for parts of Long Island and north of the city.

Normal trash and recycling pickup schedules will remain in effect in the city, but residents should anticipate delays in the collection due to the wintry weather.

The sanitation department said salt spreaders are at the ready.

Monday will see a high of 38 degrees, the weather service said, with snow turning into rain later in the day. A high near 41 degrees is expected on Tuesday, with rain continuing early in the day.

The sunny weather will return on Wednesday with a high near 38.
