Con Edison is responding to a power outage in the Morris Park section of the Bronx.
About 500 outages were reported there on Friday morning.
On Thursday, the utility distributed dry ice to customers without electricity in parts of Brooklyn.
It has urged conservation while scrambling to keep up with power demands during this week’s hot weather.
The heat wave has now broken.
The National Weather Service predicted a high near 87 on Friday, with a chance of rain. On Thursday, temperatures reached 89 degrees. The high was 100 on Wednesday and 103 on Tuesday.
An official heat wave in the Northeast requires prolonged temperatures of 90 degrees or above.
