A Queens man was fatally clubbed in the head by his own son in a drunken Friday night brawl, police said.

The deadly confrontation began when Ioannis “John” Safetis, 57, got a call from his ex-girlfriend, asking him to come to her Utopia Parkway home to retrieve his teenagers, a source says.

Dimitrios Safetis, 19, and his younger sibling had shown up, apparently drunk and belligerent, at the woman’s home.

The elder Safetis was annoyed at his sons. The conflict escalated with “a whole fracas involving the ex, the sons and the ex’s son,” according to a source.

John Safetis then retrieved a heavy steering wheel lock from his car and brandished it at Dimitrios, a source says.

The pair battled until Dimitrios wrestled the steering wheel lock away from his dad and allegedly swung it at the old man’s head, police say.

John Safetis pronounced dead at New York Hospital of Queens.

Dimitrios and his father often argued, but it never sounded physical, said a neighbor.

“The dad gets really, really drunk,” says Oliver Hue, who lives next door to John Safetis in nearby Auburndale. “He has words of disappointment for the sons. It’s like a pleading tone. ‘Why did you do this to me? Why are you acting like this? You ruined me?’”

Hue says John Safetis sometimes had “lady friends” stop by his apartment. “Very presumptuous of me to say they were hookers but I told them to tune it down and he wouldn’t. He told me don’t talk to me, talk to my landlord,” Hue says.

Dimitrios Safetis was arrested and was awaiting arraignment on manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
