An art-auction executive jumped to his death from his apartment overlooking Central Park early yesterday after returning from a trip, cops said.
Ali Can Ertug, a vice president at Sotheby’s, plunged from a window of his eighth-floor apartment on Central Park West near West 63rd Street after writing a suicide note on his computer, authorities said.
The contents of the note were not disclosed.
A source said Ertug, once in charge of 19th-century European art at Christie’s, fell onto scaffolding and hit the ground on 63rd Street at 1:30 a.m. Ertug, 36, who was single and lived alone, had been away at least a month from his duplex, neighbors said.
Ertug, who studied art history at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, specialized in Turkish art and once sold a piece for $4.5 million.
