Here’s one bike lane plan that’s come to a screetching halt.

Following strong opposition from residents and local pols, the city’s Department of Transportation is dropping plans for a controversial four-mile bike lane that would have run along Bay Ridge Parkway in Brooklyn, from a connecting path at Shore Road in Bay Ridge to Bay Parkway in Bensonhurst.

“Bike lanes have a place in New York City, but not on Bay Ridge Parkway,” said Councilman Recchia, who fought against the lanes. “The street is extremely narrow, which means people would be fighting to get around each other, and it would only be a matter of time before somebody got hurt.

Bay Ridge Parkway is a narrow, two-way street with a high traffic volume, congestion and many reported accidents.
