Prosecutors and defense lawyers in the case of two former NYPD cops accused of raping a Brooklyn teen in their custody formally requested on Tuesday that a special prosecutor be appointed to helm the case going forward.

The parties — including both the alleged victim, who uses the alias Anna Chambers, and the two since-fired cops, Richard Hall and Eddie Martins — appeared before Justice Danny Chun in Brooklyn Supreme Court to motion for the change.

“Both sides — perhaps not filed for the same reasons — filed motions for assigning a special prosecutor,” said Chun, who scheduled the parties to reconvene next month, when the ruling of city Deputy Chief Administrative Judge George Silver will be announced.

The request comes shortly after the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office petitioned to turn the case over to a special prosecutor, citing “a substantial risk of an appearance of impropriety” due to, among other factors, an affair between Hall and a female prosecutor in the office.

That filing also cited Chambers’ “troubling … false statements under oath.”

The trial was expected to see opening statements on Tuesday, but will now be adjourned until Feb. 6 as the motions are reviewed.

Hall and Martins have admitted to having sex with a handcuffed Chambers, then 18, in the back of an NYPD van shortly after arresting her in Sept. 2017 for prescription drugs found in her purse during a car stop.

Chambers’ civil lawyer, on hand for Tuesday’s filing, welcomed a special prosecutor so that they might move forward with the case.

“At this point, the prosecutor’s office might be compromised from representing her,” said Michael David. “We don’t have a choice but to go with the special prosecutor.”

“We want to proceed as soon as possible,” he added. “We want justice here.”
