St. John’s rolled out the red carpet for its new coach Steve Lavin and his stunning actress wife last night.

Mary Ann Jarou, whose credits include “Entoruage” and “King of Queens,” joined her husband on stage to exchange a kiss on the cheek for roses after Lavin was introduced during the news conference held at Taffner Field House in Jamaica, Queens.

Lavin, who signed a six-year deal to coach St. John’s, says he recruited the TV actress with his “persistence and stick-to-itiveness.”

“For starters, clearly I overachieved,” Lavin told The Post. “Initially, I think there was chemistry, but then to close the deal. … I wore her down.”

Lavin proposed to Jarou inside a candelit cabana in Cancun to the tunes of a saxophone player walking up and down the beach.

“It actually was spontaneous, I hadn’t planned it [at that moment],” says Lavin.

“But I had planned to do it, [when] the timing was right.”
