A promising young law student from Brooklyn — who was the son of a former New York state assemblyman and borough GOP party chairman — died in a motorcycle accident on the Van Wyck Expressway Saturday morning.
David Ferraro, 26, was riding to St. John’s University’s law school library to meet his girlfriend and study when his 2005 Aprilia was struck near Exit 3 in Ozone Park, Queens, by a 2014 Honda that was changing lanes, police and family members said.
“He was our king,” his Aunt Karen told The Post. “He was the love of our life — a beautiful, smart, caring and loving boy.”
Ferraro lived with his parents, Arnaldo and Jean, in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn.
Arnaldo, 82, recently served as Brooklyn’s GOP Party chair; he served on the state Assembly in 1985 and 1986, until he was unseated by Democrat Peter J. Abbate Jr.
“He was going to the library to study for an upcoming final,” the grieving father said Saturday night.
“We were together a few hours ago,” he said. “Speaking this morning in the back yard. Then we came inside to have breakfast. And when he said he was going to go back to the school, I said, ‘Take the car. It’s going to rain.’
“In fact, a few minutes later, it started raining. But not before he left.
“He should have taken the car,” he added. “By the way, he always takes the car.”
The son worked as a hospital security guard and was set to become a lawyer like his father and many others in his family, the dad said.
“David was a very smart, intelligent person. He was respectful almost all the time,” he added.
“You know, to see him there in the hospital. The condition he was in…” the dad said, his voice trailing off.
Jean, 80, the mother, was too devastated to say much Saturday night.
“Terrible situation,” she said softly. “He was a good boy. Very good boy.”
“He had one last final exam for this year,” said the aunt.
“He had one more year to go after this year. He was studying white collar crime.”
The driver of the Honda had remained at the scene, police said.
No charges had been filed by Saturday night.
