Lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle will join forces today to salute former Gov. Hugh Carey at a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Carey, 92, was remembered warmly at an Upper East Side wake by a host of dignitaries, including Gov. Cuomo, former Gov. George Pataki, US Rep. Gerald Nadler, former city Comptroller Bill Thompson and former St. John’s University basketball coach Lou Carnesecca.

Former Mayor David Dinkins said Carey insisted on fiscal responsibility when naysayers were ready to let the state go bankrupt in 1975.

“He got the job done,” Dinkins said outside the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Madison Avenue. “They don’t make them like him anymore. He was terrific.”
