A man was rushed to the hospital — with a knife still protruding from his neck — after he was stabbed during a dispute in a Manhattan subway station Saturday morning, cops said.
The victim, 50, was at the West 4th Street-Washington Square Station in the West Village when he got into a fight with another man around 5:40 a.m., cops said.
The attacker stabbed the victim from behind, cops said.

He suffered serious injuries in the attack and needed emergency surgery, according to police.
The nature of the dispute was unknown, cops said.

Subway rider Sparkle Shakiyah was shocked to hear what happened at her station.
“I worry enough that I’m not letting my daughter take the train next year when she starts high school,” Shakiyah, 47, said. “She’s gonna have to take the bus. I’d rather her outside, but the train, no I’m not putting my daughter on the train by herself.”
The lifelong New Yorker started taking the subway when she was 10, but times have changed, she said.
“I don’t trust it,” she said. “I see a lot of kids on the train by themselves and stuff like that, I just pray for their safety.”
Alvin, a physician in his 50s, takes the subway almost everyday and won’t be scared off by the stabbing, he said.
“I feel safe,” he said. “I’m just always wary. It teaches us all to continue to be wary.”
