A kooky salesman who defrauded investors out of millions of dollars with his “Star Trek”-inspired phony medical tablet should be sent to prison at warp speed — and stay there for up to 11 years, prosecutors say.

Assistant US Attorney Winston Paes says in new Brookyn federal-court papers that Howard Leventhal’s “history and characteristics” warrant a stiff prison term when he’s sentenced Aug. 26.

Leventhal, 59, was nabbed in two separate schemes – in 2013, he sold bogus “tricorder”-like devices inspired by “Star Trek” character Dr. Leonard McCoy to unwitting investors, and two years later, he committed another fraud while out on bail by peddling his fake smartphone app called “Go2Nurse.”

In a filing Saturday, Assistant US Attorney Paes said Leventhal’s “history and characteristics” warrant a stiff prison term when he is sentenced Aug. 26.

“The defendant’s deplorable actions and character call for a harsh sentence, not leniency,” Paes wrote.

The prosecutor also noted that Leventhal stole identities of real people and “created an alternate reality to deceive his victims,” including an 80-year-old investor from Florida.

In all, Leventhal swiped more than $1 million from four investors and tried to steal another $26 million “based on completely fabricated documents and forgeries,” Paes wrote.

In his own papers filed under seal, Leventhal asked for a sentence of time served as well as community service and home confinement, citing a medical condition involving his colon, prosecutors said.
