Longtime state Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer, a Democrat who nearly lost her eastern Westchester County seat in 2010, announced yesterday she won’t run again this year, since she will be undergoing major shoulder surgery.

Her retirement gives the GOP a shot at an open seat as it tries to hold a 32-30 majority.
