A message in a bottle tossed into the ocean off Staten Island made the journey across the Atlantic Ocean and all the way to the coast of France.

George Boorujy put a drawing of an seabird into a glass bottle and launched it from Wolfe’s Pond Park Beach in 2013 as part of an elaborate art project.

To his surprise, the bottle was discovered north of Bordeaux 29 months later.

Alain Barthélémy ­e-mailed the artist, saying he and his wife stumbled upon the bottle while walking their dog, Elton, on the sand dunes.

“I was not expecting this at all,” Boorujy told DNA Info. “Most of the other ones that have been found, most have been found not terribly far from where they were launched.”
