Steroid doc wrist-slap
A Staten Island doctor accused of writing hundreds of prescriptions for illegal steroids was sentenced to five years’ probation yesterday.
“I just want to get on with my life,” said Richard Lucente, 38.
He was facing 30 years in prison on charges he took cash payments from men — including some city cops — looking to beef up illegally.
But in the middle of his trial in March, prosecutors agreed to the no-jail plea to the single charge of conspiracy, which calls for 200 hours of community service and the surrender of his medical licenses.
Lucente admitted he accepted $27,000 from Lowen’s pharmacy in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, to refer patients.
