An undercover city sting nailed a dozen shady contractors caught peddling their services without a license to make home repairs.

This time, it was the investigators who put the screws to the unlawful handymen, slapping them with $65,000 in fines and hauling away their trucks, Consumer Affairs Commissioner Jonathan Mintz announced yesterday.

Pretending to be homeowners, the undercover investigators lured the suspected unlicensed contractors, who were identified based on advertisements, complaints from consumers, or previously revoked licenses and unpaid fines.
