Sting zings bling ‘con’
A well-dressed con artist who allegedly ripped off of $81,000 worth of bling from Tiffany and Wempe was busted in a sting at a third jewelry store, The Post has learned.
Kevin Funches, 51, went to pick up two Rolexes worth $42,000 from William Barthman Jewelers in the Financial District at 2 p.m. Tuesday. But CFO Kirk Oney secretly called cops when he showed.
Funches had promised to send a wire transfer and deposited a check into the store’s account using the transfer’s bank number. He had hoped the store would turn over the goods before the check bounced, Oney said.
