Two stolen Indian statues were seized Friday from Christie’s auction house just days before their sale, authorities said.

A 10th-century sandstone sculpture of a teaching god worth $150,000 and an 8th-century stone panel of an equestrian deity valued at $300,000 were scheduled to be auctioned next week.

But a joint investigation by US Customs and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office found that a smuggler hid the artifacts’ origins with bogus paperwork.
