A boneheaded thug who attacked a man for being gay inside of the Stonewall bar – the very birthplace of the gay rights movement – was sentenced to two years in prison today.

Matthew Francis, 22, of Staten Island, pleaded guilty earlier this year to robbery and assault as a hate crime for the shocking attack inside of the West Village bar last October.

Francis and another goon, Christopher Orlando, 18, punched and tackled Benjamin Carver in the fabled bar’s bathroom, after asking him if he was gay. They then called him a gay slur and demanded his money.

Orlando has also pleaded guilty in the case, and is expected to be sentenced in January.
