A fiend violently sexually assaulted a 59-year-old straphanger in a random early-morning attack in a Lower Manhattan subway station, cops said Monday.

The predator approached the woman from behind on a stairwell inside the Canal Street station around 2 a.m. Friday, police said.

He then struck the woman, forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her, authorities said.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, and the victim went on her own to a local hospital for treatment.

The victim reported the vicious act Sunday at the 41st Precinct in The Bronx, sources said.

The suspect is still in the wind.

Sex crimes in the city’s transit system have dipped slightly so far this year compared to the same period in 2024, with 104 vs. 112 incidents reported, according to the latest NYPD data.

But the past 28 days saw a surge in tranist sex crimes, with 54 reported compared to 45 during the same period last year, the statistics show.
