A bullet shot into some rubber at an indoor NYPD gun testing range caused a small smoky fire in Queens Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Fire officials say the fire began shortly before 2 p.m. at an NYPD crime lab building on Jamaica Avenue.

The fire appears to have started after a bullet hit a rubber mat comprised of recycled plane tires. The mat began to smolder causing a smoke condition.

There were no injuries and no property damage. The gun lab shares space in the same building as the NYPD forensic lab.
