Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer is telling associates he will not run for mayor next year — opting for comptroller instead, sources told The Post.

Stringer, a Democrat, “is personally calling around, telling people he is running for comptroller,” according to one source.

Stringer has long been rumored about to leave the field of undeclared mayoral candidates after keeping his name in it for the past year and garnering much more attention than he otherwise would have.

His spokeswoman questioned both the story’s credibility and sourcing.

But she would not comment further about Stringer’s plans.
