An 18-year-old student was stabbed in the back near his Manhattan high school during dismissal on Monday, police and sources said.

The victim, a student at Martin Luther King High School, was knifed on West 56th Street and Tenth Avenue around 3:02 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The attack unfolded about 10 blocks south of the student’s school.

School safety agents mere yards away at Independence High School reportedly saw the student in distress, sources said.

The teen was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.

A person of interest is in custody, but it is not clear what connection they had to the victim or the school, the NYPD said Monday night.
