It’s not just professional reporters who can’t always get a straight answer from Mayor Bloomberg.

A student journalist at JHS 217 in the Briarwood section of Queens told The Post she’s not satisfied at the mayor’s response today to her question about what the city is doing to boost trade schools.

“I thought it was pretty vague,” said Nabila Uddin, 13, an eighth-grader at the middle school. “He didn’t exactly give me a great answer. He’s busy and I understand.”

Bloomberg visited the school to promote an expansion of the Notify NYC network to include late-breaking emergency information about schools.

Parents can sign up for the updates by phone, text message or e-mail by calling 311.

After the announcement, Bloomberg opened the floor to questions, first from professional reporters and then from about a dozen well-prepared students.

The mayor should have known he wouldn’t get off easily, since he pronounced JHS 217 one of the best schools in the system upon taking the podium.
