A high-school student on his way home from a Brooklyn birthday party was shot and killed after a street argument turned violent yesterday, police and relatives said.

Jarrett Traves, 18, was gunned down at Lott Avenue and East 98th Street in Brownsville just before 2 a.m. and taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 42-year-old man was stabbed in the dispute.

Traves, a senior at Paul Robeson HS, was planning on going to a trade school to learn carpentry, said his distraught mother, Winsome Edwards.

“I always told him to stay off the streets at night,” Edwards said. “He was a good kid, but you can’t stop these kids from going out.”

Traves’ grandmother, Totlin Hoilette, said, “They took away a huge part of my life. I’ve been taking care of him since he was small.”

There have been no arrests in the case.
