Students in a dozen NYU dorms that lost power as a result of Hurricane Sandy are being forced to relocate to other dorms and locations today, college officials said.

Senior Associate Vice President of Student Affairs Tom Ellett emailed students late yesterday informing them of today’s 3 p.m. deadline to pack a go-bag of essentials and leave.

The following dorms are being vacated:

– 13th Street residents to Founders Hall

– Alumni residents to Third North

– Carlyle residents to University Hall

– Coral residents to Palladium

– Rubin residents to Weinstein or Goddard halls

– 2nd Street, 7th Street, Brittany, Broome, Greenwich, Hayden, and Lafayette residents to Kimmel Center

Students who could stay with friends or family were encouraged to do so.
