A pile of student documents that included personal information such as Social Security numbers and home addresses was reportedly dumped right in front of a Bronx elementary school.
The reams of student files were discovered atop a pile of plastic garbage bags at PS 236, WABC/Channel 7 reported Thursday.
One parent, whose 12-year-old daughter’s file was dumped on the curb, was livid about the security breach.
“I’m very devastated, because that’s my daughter’s personal information,” the mom told the TV station.
“Anybody can do anything with it, Social Security numbers; my information was stolen.”
The records are from the 2007-2008 school year and contain addresses and phone numbers of students and parents, along with medical information and the Social Security numbers.
The Department of Education said the matter has been referred for investigation.
