NEWARK, N.J. — A Brazilian man on a flight from New Jersey to Hong Kong has been arrested after Transportation Security Administration officers at Newark Liberty International Airport detected a stun gun in his carry-on bag.
The passenger was going through the security checkpoint on Thursday when the weapon was discovered. He was identified as 48-year-old Mauro Louzada from Brazil; his hometown wasn’t released.
The TSA says the Port Authority Police Department confiscated the weapon and charged Louzada with criminal possession of a weapon.
The Port Authority says Louzada is free on $1,000 bail.
