An MTA worker was hospitalized Friday morning after a woman on a Midtown subway platform threw an open beer container through the window of her conductor’s cab, transit officials said.

The 33-year-old conductor was hit “without provocation” around 7 a.m. while her 6 train stopped at 59th Street station, according to an MTA spokesman.

Cops said the assailant — a 170 pound, 5-foot-8 woman in her thirties — fled the scene. MTA dispatchers took the train out service one stop later at Grand Central-42nd Street station.

The unnamed transit worker was hospitalized for “evaluation of trauma,” the MTA said.

Police sources said the conductor was mere “splashed” with beer, and not actually hit by the projectile.

An NYPD investigation remains underway.

“Senseless attacks on transit workers are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated,” MTA rep Michael Cortez said in a statement.

“We will fully cooperate with an NYPD investigation, and urge prosecutors to demand maximum available penalties for perpetrators.”
