It won’t be a happy holiday weekend for scores of straphangers.
The MTA is nixing service on the 5 train from Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan all the way up to East 180th Street in the Bronx for the next four weekends due to repair work.
In addition, a chunk of the No. 2 line — from East 180th Street and 149th Sreet-Grand Concourse in the Bronx — will also be shut down during the same time to work on the system’s track panel installation.
Bronx riders of both lines will be re-routed to shuttle buses.
Those traveling in Manhattan on the 5 are being told to take the no. 4 train instead, which also runs along Lexington Avenue.
There is one bright spot for no. 5 train riders.
Service will be briefly resumed at 6 p.m. on July 4th to accommodate the crowds going to the fireworks in Lower Manhattan.
