The man who was shot on a subway platform at Grand Central Terminal has been identified in a GoFundMe page as a father of two who works at a pizzeria in the Financial District
David Altamirano, a 10-year employee at Kesté Pizza & Vino on Gold Street, was shot Saturday morning on his way to work, according to the fundraising page set up by the eatery.
The shooting, which occurred at 10:30 a.m. on the southbound No. 4 train platform, was sparked by a “verbal dispute,” police have said.
The 40-year-old victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
“He called me the morning of the shooting around 10:30 a.m. to tell me, ‘please cover my shift because I was shot,'” Keste Pizza owner Roberto Caporuscio told The Post Monday. “And I said, ‘you’re kidding me.'”
“He told me he was looking for his phone and a guy was following him,” Capruscio said. “He didn’t know this person. The guy kept following him and David said, ‘if you don’t stop following me I’ll call the police.’ And the guy shot him.”
He said Altamirano has two children and has worked at the eatery for 10 years, calling him “an incredible worker.”
On Monday, police announced the arrest of Tearance Crumpty, of 28-66 College Point Blvd., Queens, who was charged Sunday with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was tracked down through a Crime Stoppers tip and arrested at a Queens hotel, cops said.
“David always was always good spirits and is known for his tremendous heart,” said the GoFundMe page, which had raised more than $7,000 as of Monday morning.
“He is currently hospitalized and in stable condition. We set up this page to help him and his family with any expenses that may arise during his recovery period.”
