A man was shoved onto the subway tracks at the Times Square station as a deranged homeless man fought with another straphanger this morning, cops said.
The 62-year-old Manhattan resident was waiting for the southbound 3 train when an argument broke out between Andrew Lesey, 29, and a man about 4:55 a.m., authorities said.
The victim told cops that Lesey struck him as he overheard him yell “Get away from me!” during the altercation. The man tumbled to the train roadbed, but was able to get back onto the platform without being struck by the subway, cops said. No train was approaching the station at that time.
He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment with contussions to his face, upper left arm, and right knee, cops said.
Lesey underwent a psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue, which he passed, authorities said. He was charged with reckless endangerment and misdemeanor assault.
Another man, who has not been identified yet, was struck by a downtown 6 train after walking on the tracks at the Spring Street station, near Lafayette Street, about 5:50 a.m., cops said. It was not immediately why he was on the train roadbed.
EMS rushed him to Beekman Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No criminality is suspected.
