Millions were spent, and the subway is still a radio dead zone.

Even after shelling out more than $140 million to update emergency communications in the subways, the system still does not allow cops, firefighters and MTA personnel to talk to each other directly.

That bombshell was dropped during a City Council committee hearing yesterday by Cas Holloway, the deputy mayor for operations. It’s a low point, he said, in the city’s push to modernize the systems since 9/11.

“This has been a challenge,” Holloway admitted.

The MTA and NYPD are finally set to kick off a pilot program in The Bronx, utilizing dual-system radios.
