A man jumped to his death from an eighth-floor hotel window onto a busy Midtown sidewalk Monday afternoon, cops said.

Authorities say the man jumped from the Pod Hotel at 39th Street and Lexington Avenue just after 1 p.m. and landed in front of Salvation Taco.

“I was loading up packages for one of the buildings with my back against the whole scene. All I heard was the sound of the guy hitting the pavement,” said package deliveryman Chris Erario, 43, of Queens. “That’s not something you ever want to hear.”

An eighth-floor window remained open as police and firefighters responded to the scene, according to witnesses.

“A guy almost got hit by the body falling,” Erario said of the man. “This guy had to jump out of the way from the falling body.”

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. Cops say it appears the man jumped on his own, and no criminality is suspected at this time.
