Suit’s a Couture clash
This could be one juicy court case.
Juicy Couture yesterday filed suit against rival clothier Jesus Juice Coature for coining a “confusingly similar” name to market leather jackets.
This is “a deliberate misspelling and play on the word ‘Couture,’ ” charges the trademark-infringement suit, filed in Manhattan federal court.
It seeks unspecified damages and an order that Jesus Juice Coature abandon its moniker.
Jesus Juice Coature did not respond to a request for comment, but CEO Shawn White claimed in a recent blog that the brand has nothing to do with Michael Jackson’s reported reference to white wine as “Jesus juice.”
“Jesus = The King of Kings. Juice = Respect. Coature = Custom, premium outerwear. Simple,” he wrote.
