New York City police are looking for a suspect who has broken into 17 commercial establishments over a 6-week period.

Police say that in most cases, the burglar cuts through a metal security gate to gain access to the front door before removing money from cash registers.

The first burglary was on March 3. The suspect has broken into pizzerias, cafes, delis, restaurants and one flower shop.

Police describe the suspect as a heavy set man with a light complexion and dark hair pulled into a ponytail.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
