A Virginia man wanted for trying to rape a woman in the vestibule of her Manhattan apartment building turned himself into police on Sunday, cops said.

Christopher Strickland, 44, of Fredericksburg, allegedly followed the 22-year-old woman into the lobby of her building near East 128th Street and 5th Avenue at about 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, authorities said.

Strickland then grabbed the woman’s rear end and wrapped his hands around her throat as she tried to fight him off, video of the attack shows.

He eventually gave up and ran away from the building, police said.

Strickland turned himself into police on Sunday morning and was being held at an NYPD facility in East Harlem, authorities said.

He was arrested on charges including attempted rape, burglary, sex abuse and assault.
