A possible arson fire gutted a historic 200-year-old building on Staten Island yesterday, officials said.
The blaze struck the one-story Kruser-Finley House in Historic Richmond Town at about 4:30 p.m., authorities said.
FDNY Deputy Chief John Hodgens said the incident was deemed “suspicious” because fire marshals had not yet found the root cause of the blaze.
Ed Wiseman, the executive director of Historic Richmond Town, called the incident a tremendous loss for the colonial-era village.
The house was a craftman’s workshop that was constructed in 1790.
