ROOSEVELT, N.Y. — A post office worker who was late for his job is thanking his lucky stars.
A sports utility vehicle went off the road and crashed through the wall of the post office on Babylon Turnpike in Roosevelt just before 7 a.m. Monday. The impact brought down a heap of bricks and cinderblock.
Employee Terry Owens of Levittown, N.Y., told Newsday his desk is right on the other side of the wall where the car came through. He’s usually at work by that time, but said he was late on Monday because his mother was in the hospital.
