An SUV crashed through a guardrail and plunged into the water in New Rochelle Tuesday afternoon, killing two passengers inside, police said.
The body of the driver was pulled from the Toyota SUV by divers from the New Rochelle police just before 3 p.m., but he was unconscious and unresponsive, according to authorities.
The man was taken to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Divers later discovered the body of a second person in the car while searching the submerged SUV, police said.
Both of their identities were not released pending the notification of the family.
Cops were investigating what caused the driver to take off into Echo Bay from Hudson Park.
