A police officer was forced to fire his gun after an SUV struck him while trying to flee the scene of a fight that originally began on board a party boat, police said.

Cops were responding to a fight at the docks near E. 23rd Street and the FDR Drive when a Ford Expedition rammed through a wooden gate and struck one of the officers around 3 a.m. Sunday.

The officer then fired off a round that did not strike anyone, police said.

Two people who were in the vehicle were taken into custody at the scene. Charges against them are pending.

Police said the pair were involved in a brawl that originated on a party boat that had launched from the pier on E. 23rd St. sometime Saturday night.

When the boat docked, the duo got in their vehicle and tried to escape before running down the officer.

The injured cop was treated for minor injuries to his knees and hands, officials said.

The incident is still under investigation.
