New Yorkers flooded area beaches to splash around and stay cool as temperatures soared in the city yesterday.
Waves crashed into Long Island girls Aliyan Owens (pictured) and Jade Dickenson, both 14, who headed to Jones Beach to escape the extreme heat plaguing the area.
The heat wave is expected to continue through the weekend, with temperatures exceeding 90 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday.
A heat advisory is in effect for New York City until 8 p.m. tomorrow, the National Weather Service said.
